I started this page to document how each setting in the new Terragen 2 program works. If you have any questions or comments, feel free to email me on: ryan AT motionmagnetic DOT com.
At the moment, this page is as basic as it gets, and is purely to provide visual reference to what each setting does when changed on it's own.
Atmosphere and cloud samples are set to 128 each, so that any artifacts in the image will primarily be as a result of the Detail and Anti-Aliasing settings only. The images linked from the thumbnails are .png's as to retain quality and minimize artifacts as a result of compression. Therefore they will be a little heavy on the download.
GI Relative Detail and GI Sample Quality are both set at 2.
Length of times for renders are only for guidance and are relative to the machine I work on. As I use a 2xCore Duo machine, I dedicated one core to Terragen 2 for rendering. Even so, other tasks I was working on at the time may have affected render times slightly, but not to any great extent. They are there primarily as a comparrison to the quality settings.
